Join me for a workshop involving seasonal, local specialties such as truffles, hands on cooking together and visiting beautiful places. I am offering these half day experiences in San Miniato as well as private cooking classes and longer retreats that you can find more about in the calendar below.

Tasting San Miniato: Meet me at the weekly market in Piazza Dante Alighieri, held Tuesdays, and let me take you to my favourite places in our picturesque Tuscan town for a taste of the local specialties and seasonal produce, from Slow Food salumi to naturally fermented pizza and, of course, truffles. We will wander, eat, drink and you’ll get to know more about this beautiful gem on the pilgrim route of the Via Francigena. Available Tuesdays and the 3rd Sunday of the month. Duration: Approximately 3 hours. Includes cookbook author led food tour, drinks and lunch.

Truffle day: A private truffle experience and cooking class with wine tasting. We will meet up at the train station of San Miniato and head to the beautiful, fertile woods of the Pisan hills where we will begin hunting for truffles with a tartufaio and his truffle dog — no matter what the season, there are different varieties of truffle to be found, from black truffles in the summer, spring bianchetto truffles to the treasured white truffle in the autumn and early winter. Afterwards, we will wander to the farmhouse where we will cook lunch together, learning how to make fresh pasta and use truffles in the kitchen and have an informal tasting of local wine with a sommelier (my husband Marco) during lunch as well. Duration: Approximately 5 hours. Included: pick up and drop off at San Miniato train station, truffle hunt, truffle cooking class, lunch and wine tasting with a sommelier.

Getting to San Miniato: If you do not have a car, San Miniato is easily reached by regional train from Florence or Pisa, it takes about 45-50 minutes from Florence SMN train station or 30 minutes from Pisa, and then right from San Miniato’s train station there is the 320 bus that will take you up to Piazza Dante Alighieri, the last stop, in about 15 minutes, departing every 30 minutes. You can buy a bus ticket (1,80 euro) at the bar below the bus stop or you can send a text message to 4883882 with the word “PISA” from your phone for a ticket.

“The experience in Tuscany was amazing for me. Just what I needed at this time in my life: disconnect a little from everyday stress and madness, and connect with the things that make me happy, share good times with people, cook, drink and have a good time. Thanks to you and Marco for the work, the love, the predisposition, the smiles, and the passion you put into this great experience. I will never forget it!” — Eli, Buenos Aires, November 2019

“I can’t stop thinking about the most wonderful retreat week & telling anyone who will listen!  And look at my ka-zillion pictures! Thank you both for the unique experiences and the wine & cooking that we did… We are anxious for you to name the dates for your next fabulous retreat.” — Sandy, Florida, November 2019
